Reducing The Usage of Ball Point Pens

EMAI is a trust for environment monitoring and action initiating. It is an organization which works to promote awareness of sparrows and conserve them by providing sparrow boxes.


An awareness program on the usage of ballpoint pens and sparrow conservation was conducted at ‘Dhanalakshmi Higher Secondary School’, Royapuram on 31.08.2019 between 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM.

Distribution Of Ink Pens & Sparrow Boxes:

The team EMAI distributed 1500 ink pens to students for reducing the usage of ballpoint pens which is non-biodegradable and also provided sparrow boxes to the students and later fixed the boxes in the students’ homes to conserve sparrows.

Event Highlight:

The Head Master Mr A. Anbuvanan motivated the students to utilize the ink pens by presenting an announcement that the students will be awarded a bonus of 5 marks in each subject in their Quarterly Examination.

  • Dr T.Murugavel, Professor and Head of EMAI-SVCE-CARE discoursed how to protect and observe the sparrows.
  • Mr E.Shanmuganatham, Wildlife Photographer and Writer encouraged the students to use ink pens instead of ballpoint pens.
  • Mr D. Ganeshan, Environmentalist, Koodugal Organisation, explained how to fix the nest box in-house.
