Why Caging Sparrows?

Not to confine the sparrow as pet as we do with other birds; rather providing space to share and live with us.

KOODUGAL (NEST) is recreating that space for sparrow by distributing nest through school students.

We have organised 4 workshops and have distributed around 1000 nests to the students.

Helping Sparrows

Invariably , 70% of the nests have already received their guests i.e., sparrows.

Giant Leaps Begin with a Single Step...

In 2014, the Journey started as a member of CARE – the Eco Club of Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Sriperumbudur, supported by EMAI – Trust for Environment Monitoring and Action Initiating. We started a survey to identify areas in Chennai where the House sparrow population is still existing. Based on the survey it was found that the sparrow population is thriving in North Madras (Thiruvottiyur, Tondiarpet, Washermanpet, Royapuram etc.,) and also in pockets of Chintadripet, Triplicane, Urapakkam, T.Nagar, Velachery, Poonamallee, Perambur, ECR, Adyar, Pattinapakkam, Tambaram. Nature has gifted abundant resources equally to all creatures in the universe without expecting anything in favour in return. Even so, mankind has made extensive use of such assets and in the name of SIXTHSENSE destroying the life of other Creatures. Anyhow, nature tries its best to heal them. Humans need to understand that the extinction of other Creatures will make them attain a horrible destiny. Hence, it is our duty to show gratitude towards that by saving them. If we haven’t taken any steps to save it, then at least we shouldn’t be an obstacle during their process of restoring themselves. Nature does not expect anything from us during regeneration, apart from our cooperation. In preserving the resources left with us, we need to step forward and join hands to help save our beautiful home planet by taking a pledge.

Internship Program 5 |
Corporate Relationship management

  • Purpose: To provide students with hands-on experience in corporate relationship management, budget preparation, project proposal creation, leadership development, and project presentation skills.
  • Duration: Flexible based on student availability | Provided day basis as well hour basis
  • Eligibility: Any UG/PG degree relevant to the Environmental and Mechanical studies
  • Requirements:
    1. Currently enrolled in a degree program in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
    2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    4. Excellent research and analytical skills
    5. Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
    6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
    7. Ability to commit to a minimum of 10 weeks of internship

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in building and maintaining relationships with corporate partners and stakeholders
  2. Research and identify potential corporate partners and sponsors

    5. Passion for environmental sustainability and social responsibility

  • Eligibility: Any UG/PG degree relevant to the Visual Communication
  • Intern Summary:
    We’re looking for a creative and enthusiastic intern to join our team at Koodugal! As a key member of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on exciting projects, including video coverage of student locations where sparrows have occupied the nest boxes, short film creation, social media management, and content creation.
  • Requirements
    1. Strong passion for storytelling and content creation
    2. Excellent video production and editing skills
    3. Proficiency in social media management and content creation tools
    4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
    5. Strong communication and organisational skills
    6. Familiarity with industry trends and best practices in content creation and social media management

Sparrow Conservation to create a better environment

  • Purpose: To provide students with a hands-on experience in social responsibility, life science of birds, team management, and leadership development.
  • Duration: Flexible based on student availability
  • Eligibility: Open to students pursuing any UG/PG degree relevant to Environmental Conservation.
  • Intern Summary:
    We are seeking a dedicated and passionate intern to join our team in conserving sparrow populations through awareness and education. The successful candidate will work closely with schools, experts, and volunteers to execute awareness programs, conduct training sessions, and monitor the project’s impact.
  • Requirements:
    1. Passion for environmental conservation and education
    2. Moderate communication and interpersonal skills
    3. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
    4. Strong administrative and time management skills

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Permission and Partnerships: Secure permission from schools to conduct awareness programs and establish partnerships with school administrators.
  2. Program Execution: Conduct awareness programs and hands-on training sessions for students within school premises.
  3. Expert Collaboration: Learn from field experts from Koodugal members to enhance knowledge about sparrow conservation.
  4. Review and Evaluation: Conduct review meetings after 3 months to assess the project’s impact and identify areas for improvement.
  5. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers on projects and share knowledge and expertise.
  6. Documentation: Prepare and share documentation of completed programs with sponsors, including reports, certificates, and other materials.
